NORTHWEST WORKERS’ JUSTICE PROJECT STAFF TO UNIONIZE
Request for Voluntarily Recognition Approved
(Portland, Oregon. JANUARY 25th, 2024) - The staff of Northwest Workers’ Justice Project (NWJP) is unionizing! Workers were notified that their employer would be voluntarily recognizing the union. By voluntarily recognizing the union, NWJP upholds its commitment to worker justice, not only in the community, but within its own organization, as well. The workers of NWJP have selected ILWU Local 5 to represent them. They will be under the Nonprofit Division of the union, alongside other social justice organizations such as Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice, Neighborhood Partnerships and Community Cycling Center. While the road to negotiating a first contract can take some time, by agreeing to voluntary recognition of the union, NWJP has taken a significant step in moving that process forward in an expeditious and fair manner.

¡EL PERSONAL DEL PROYECTO DE JUSTICIA PARA TRABAJADORES DEL NOROESTE (NWJP) ESTÁ SINDICALIZANDOSE!
Petición de Reconocimiento Voluntario Aprobado
(Portland, Oregon. Enero 25, 2024) Los trabajadores fueron notificados que su empleador reconoció el sindicato de manera voluntaria. Al reconocer voluntariamente al sindicato, NWJP sostiene su compromiso a la justicia obrera, no sólo en la comunidad, sino también dentro de su propia organización. Los trabajadores en NWJP han escogido a ILWU Local 5 como su representante. Ellos estarán bajo la División de organizaciones sin fines de lucro, non-profit, dentro del sindicato, al lado de otras organizaciones de justicia social como El Movimiento Interreligioso de Justicia Inmigrante (Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice), La Asociación Vecinal (Neighborhood Partnerships) y El Centro Comunitario de Ciclismo (Community Cycling Center). Mientras el camino para negociar un primer contrato puede tomar algún tiempo, en el reconocimiento voluntario del sindicato, NWJP ha tomado un gran paso para adelantar el proceso en una manera expedita y justa.
